TODAY'S ENG is "might"

1. i might

2. i might as well

3. you might have

4. you may

5. may i~?

 

 

"might" use quite often in conversation. 

but until now i haven't used it very well because i'm not used it 

especially, "i might as well", "you might have", "you may" are so unfamiliar to me

 

FITST:  YOU MIGHT HAVE!

 

 

 

 

1. you might have: it is used to assum other's state and action in the past

this assum state in the past so when you use it, you have to use "past verb" when using it

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Example

1. you might have forgotten your keys at home

2. they might have known you alreadly

3. you might have misunderstand what he said

4. you might have missed the announcement earlier

5. you might have received the wrong email by mistake. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

SECOND: I MIGHT~

 

this expression is used when you have made a plan, but you're unsure whether you'll actually follow through with them

 

1. I might move to other city. that why i don't join your club regularly. 

2. I might go to the gym later if i have time 

3. I might not be able to finish this project by tomorrow

THRID: YOU MAY~: 정중하고 공손한 톤을 유지하면서도, 상대방에게 선택의 여지를 남겨주는 방식으로 사용

 

this expression is used three situlations

 

1. 허락: accept

when you accept something to other. 

if someone ask acception something, you can say "yes you may", No you may not"

- you may enter the room now

2. 제안: suggestion

when you suggest something to other smothely, you can use it 

- You may want to try this restaurant.

- You may want to double-check the details before submitting the report

3. oppoutunity : 어떤 일이 일어날 가능성 (~할 수도 있어)

- you may find this book interesting if you like mysteries. 

네가 미스터리를 좋아한다면 이 책이 흥미로울 수도 있어.

- you may leave early today if your work is finished

- "You may find it difficult at first." 처음에는 어려울 수도 있어.

 

 

 you may라는 표현은 잘 안썼던거 같은데 3가지 의미가 있는줄 처음 알았다 

한국말로도 ~하는거 어때, 너 이거 좋아할듯? 이런말을 자주 하는데 그때 may를 쓰면 될거 같다.
