오늘은 level 3 마지막 챕터이다

이번에 새롭게 알게 된 단어는

drawn shut : 커튼이 처진/ 단혀있다

intimate: 친밀한

saying : 속담

staggering : 믿기 어려울 정도의 

turn in : 시청하다 

alternative: 대안의 = another method 

turn to : ~로 눈을 돌리다, 의지하다 

drawn shut은 어떨때 쓰는 단어인지 좀 헷갈리는데 창문, 커튼, 문이 완전히 닫혀있을때 사용한다고 한다. 

- the curtain were drawn shut, blocking out all the sunlight from the room 

- she left the door drawn shut behight her, ensuring no on could hear their conversation 

- he noticed the windows were drawn shut, a sign that no one had been home for days 

 

이게 draw의 과거 분사 형으로 사용되는건지 아님 그냥 drawn shut이라는 용어가 있는건지 헷갈렸는데 시제에 맞게 사용이 다르다. 

 

• "draw shut": 현재 시점에서 닫는 동작을 나타냄 (ex. I will draw the curtains shut).
• "drawn shut": 닫힌 상태를 설명하는 경우에 쓰임 (ex. The curtains were drawn shut).

 

 

 

 

 

 

be dependent on : ~ 에 달려있다 

 

whether or not the performance success is depentent on his existence

 

• The success of the project is highly dependent on the team's collaboration. (그 프로젝트의 성공은 팀의 협력에 크게 의존하고 있다.)
• Children are dependent on their parents for emotional and financial support. (아이들은 감정적, 경제적으로 부모에게 의존한다.)
• The company's growth is dependent on the stability of the market. (회사의 성장은 시장의 안정성에 의존하고 있다.)
